Angel and Paul Harvey Media Center
The center is a state-of-the-art media facility with equipment and spaces established to educate and empower the Washington University community to tell their stories through media.
Caleres Fabrication Studio
Supports studio and coursework assignments, as well as independent research projects conducted by students and faculty. Beyond the fabricating equipment and tools typically found in wood and metal shops, the School’s equipment includes laser cutters, three-axis CNC routers, and plastic 3-D printers.
Chemistry Machine Shop
The Chemistry Department Machine Shop on the Danforth campus is a fully-equipped and professionally staffed machine shop with computer controlled milling machines and computer controlled lathe. We have precision lathes, programmable indexing head and rotary table, sheet metal and wood-working shops, ironworker and welders.
Core Research Facilities
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) provides a list of core facilities to help researchers with services, expertise, or equipment.
Data Services
Provides support in research data management, data curation, data literacy, data analysis, data visualization, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Data Visualization Environment Space
AR/VR headsets and computer workstations are available at the DaVE. DaVE is a studio space designed for 3D exploration where digital 3D data can be captured via photogrammetry or structured light scanning.
Embodi3D
Embodi3D is a platform dedicated to sharing, discovering, and downloading medically accurate 3D models, allowing healthcare professionals and enthusiasts to create 3D printable models from medical imaging data.
Engineering Student Machine Shops
These facilities at the McKelvey School of Engineering provide students the training and opportunity to learn and practice hands-on manufacturing techniques in a safe and supervised environment. We also offer instructional support to students, faculty and staff from the School of Engineering, as they work on class projects, research, and student club team design competitions.
Glass Shop
The chemistry glass shop provides for the construction of special Pyrex and quartz glass laboratory apparatus. To this end, the shop is equipped with a four-inch glassblower’s lathe, an annealing oven, a carborundum cut-off wheel, and a variety of burners.
IMSE User Facilities
The facilities for materials characterization, microfabrication, and nanofabrication are available for use by researchers from all WashU schools and departments, as well as to users from other universities, government laboratories, and industry.
In-House Fabrication Team
The team at Washington University School of Medicine provides fabrication, modification, design, and technical services. The team serves all Washington University departments as well as off-campus customers not affiliated with the University.
